Finding Your Keepers!
Team Leader required to support our 40-year-old client with complex needs.
Our client lives with her close-knit family who is looking for a supportive Team Leader to provide hands on care for her and to manage her Care team. J is a chatty lady who enjoys doing arts and crafts, playing board games and floristry. If you have green fingers, you can help her look after her many plants! J has also recently started watching Grey’s Anatomy and is looking forward to watching more!
The Role/Client:
This Team Leader role is to supervise the Care team, work closely with her family and provide direct support to J.
J has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as well as other complex conditions including non-epileptic seizure, complex PTSD, gastroparesis and other conditions that significantly impact on her health. Sge is a friendly and chatty lady who can be very particular about her care.
Together with her PTSD, J can experience extended periods of pain and can get upset and angry. She can become frustrated and have outbursts where she may shout and say things in the heat of the moment. As a result she needs an experienced Team Leader who is used to working with challenging behaviour, and is empathetic and emotionally robust.
You will support J with all activities of daily living including personal care. You will accompany her to appointments such as medical and dental with another team or family member present. J uses a wheelchair but is bed bound for much of the time. J often has friends visiting, therapy sessions etc so there will be periods of downtime daily. J likes company but also likes her space.
J has Mast Cell Activation Disorder and has a lot of allergies; you will be required to prepare snacks and simple meals for J but must be extremely observant of ingredients used and also of any snacks or meals that you consume whilst on shift.
About You:
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a Care Team Leader or Senior role. Excellent organisation skills are essential as Team Leader duties include rota management to ensure consistent cover, collating timesheets, and stock checks.
You will be a patient, empathetic and emotionally robust as you will be dealing with challenging behaviours. Additionally, you will be caring, friendly, reliable and have a positive outlook on life. You will be able to use your initiative, provide flexibility and be mindful of good timekeeping and working in a family home.
You will need to be a driver and able to drive our client’s automatic car. However, if you are a driver but don’t have your own car, our client lives a 15-minute walk from Oxshott station.
It is essential that you have certification of care or show that you have undertaken training in care. It is also important that you are comfortable with clinical procedures, use of MARS charts and willing to undertake injection training which is provided.
